Pt.28 Shooting the Music Video

In this post I will explain what happened behind the scenes some difficulties I came across when shooting the video and explain what I think I could have planned better and also what I decided to do instead including some improvisation that  I feel worked well.

To help put this into prospective I will be inserting some behind the scene photos and some photos from when editing my video. As well as what the location looked liked on the days of shooting.

When it came to shooting the video it was a cold December morning however surprisingly due to it being Scotland although cold the sun was shining through the sky. With all my actors ready to get going we started shooting the music video.  When shooting the filming I stuck to my shooting script and shooting list as much as possible however some had to change due to locations being unavailable and not having certain props (e.g the music room with the guitar). However I over came this by improvising the 2 act to listen to music on the phone instead and walking in the woods.

Above shows what the weather was like on the day. As you can see It was sunny however  due to it being the middle of winter on the north of Scotland light was only out for a few hours so we decided to do all outside locations first so we would have them done before sunlight faded.

Above is in my editing as you can see I decided to add some font and the font being the title of the song at the beginning to make it look more like a proper music video.

As you can see above I added the effect of speeding it up. This was due to the scene being bit too long however I felt that it worked quite well for the scene as it works.

Above is again myself editing the video to be spilt screen. This was originally within the shooting script and so I decided to keep it in with adding seconds on how long it should last for.

Here you see I have used the crop filter. The reason behind why is because my shots were a bit shaky due to it being hand held and I had to crop out my mirror light which I was using as the main light due to a malfunction with the LED light I was using. However I feel that I did well with quick thinking of using my mirror as light as it still created a similar effect that I was looking for.

One of my actors Josh took this photo of me discussing what I was planning on doing next with my shot list and storyboard with me. During the days of filming I realised that some shots weren’t going to work and angles and so I decided to change some around. I was also explaining how I would like Ana (the girl in front of me) to act within the next scene. This was a frequent site through out the day me looking at my script so I knew what I had shot and what I still needed to shoot.

Overall i feel that the shooting of the filming went well. However looking over the footage I realised that their are some shots that could have been longer and also some shots could have been a bit steadier from this I have learned to make sure I use a steady camera and also make sure i have enough film for the time period its meant to be shot for.
